Hall 4, the first Dry Floor, opens at SEC1

A new steel-framed level above SEC1’s existing halls adds 18,900 square feet of space 24.2 feet above the base flood elevation, with its own power train.

Hall 4 at SEC1 is open: 18,900 square feet of space on a new steel-framed level built above Halls 1 to 3, with its finished floor at 34.2 feet NAVD 88, 24.2 feet above the base flood elevation.

We call it the Dry Floor. It has its own UPS and generators in a 2N arrangement, its own switchgear in the electrical gallery at 21.0 feet, its own fuel, and fiber that rises from sealed entrances in its own risers to a second meet-me room, MMR-B, on the same level. Nothing it depends on is below our design flood elevation, so a flood that reached the floor of the halls below would not interrupt it.

Hall 4 supports 15 kW per cabinet on average and up to 45 kW with rear-door heat exchangers, fed from chilled-water taps at every row. It passed its integrated systems test on October 18 and has its first customers moving in this week.
