Cordgrass Data opens SEC1 in Secaucus

A 1973 warehouse, rebuilt with its data halls on a new deck 6.8 feet above the base flood elevation, opens with two halls and its first eleven customers.

Cordgrass Data opened SEC1 in Secaucus today. The building was a refrigerated distribution warehouse when we bought it last year. Inside its walls we have built a new concrete deck, with its top at 16.8 feet NAVD 88, and put the data halls on it: 6.8 feet above the base flood elevation at the site, and 8.2 feet above the high-water mark Hurricane Sandy left on its loading-dock wall.

Halls 1 and 2 are open, with 3.7 MW of critical IT capacity and room for 600 cabinets. Eleven customers have signed, and nine networks are on-net in the meet-me room.

The switchgear, UPS and generators are above our design flood elevation of 15.0 feet, and the building holds 72 hours of fuel at full design load. Prospective customers are welcome to see it by appointment.
