Level 2 at NWK1 opens with eight Dry Floor suites
The second floor of our Newark building is commissioned: 33,600 square feet of private suites, 25.1 feet above the base flood elevation, with liquid cooling to every suite.
The second floor of NWK1 is commissioned and open to customers: eight private suites of between 1,240 and 6,400 square feet, 33,600 square feet in all, with 5.6 MW of critical IT capacity. Its finished floor is at 36.1 feet NAVD 88, 25.1 feet above the base flood elevation at the site and 17.6 feet above our own design flood elevation.
Every suite has its own mantrap, its own busway from two independent power trains, and a facility water loop for direct liquid cooling of up to 60 kW per cabinet. Its switchgear, UPS and generators sit above 20 feet, so nothing it depends on would be touched by a flood that reached the floor below.
“NWK1 was always designed to take a second floor,” said Elena Castellano, our chief engineer. “The piles were driven for it in 2019. What has changed is who wants it. We now have customers who ask for the elevation before they ask for the price.”
Two suites were let before commissioning finished. Prospective customers can see the floor by appointment.
